If purchasing a 3-gauge
kit with a Transmission
Temperature Gauge, we do
offer this temp manifold
for tapping into the
cooler feed line.
Part #: FTG-MFD58
1) Identify
the Cooler Feed
line. The transmission
is labeled “To Cooler”
and “From Cooler” next
to each line.
2) Slide
the black plastic
protective ring away
from where the line
enters the transmission
and then remove the
retaining clip
(sometimes painted
purple).
3)
Before
removing the line from
the transmission you
should find something
suitable to plug the
hole to prevent fluid
from coming out. A
piece of 5/8” OD hose
with its end plugged is
ideal. You want to make
sure that whatever you
use is soft and will not
scratch the inner
surface of the hole.
Remove the line at the
transmission by pulling
it outward and
immediately plug the
entry to the
transmission.
4) With a
ruler mark off 1.10”
where you would like to
install the sender
manifold. With a pipe
cutter, cut this portion
out.
5)
Install
the manifold as pictured
and reconnect the feed
line to the
transmission. Proper
tightening procedure for
the fitting is one full
turn + 1 wrench flat
past finger tight (7
wrench flats total). TIP:
Don’t forget to
reinstall the black
plastic protective ring
BEFORE you attach the
short piece of the
cooler line to the
manifold.
6) Apply
a small amount of RTV
Silicone to the threads
of the temp. sender.
You want to just coat
the threads, not the tip
of the sender.
7) Insert
and tighten the sender
with a 3/4" open end
wrench.
DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN!
