To remove the pillar, first pull the door molding off where it contacts the pillar.  Next remove the factory A-pillar.  This is done by pulling it toward you while seated in the drivers seat.  It is held in by 3 retaining clips.  If necessary you can use a flat blade screwdriver and push on the retaining tabs. Start at the top and work your way down.  Gently tilt the top of the pillar toward the windshield to free it from the dash area.  Once the pillar is out, remove the 2 exposed screws that are used on the grab handle.  If your truck is not equipped with a drivers grab handle, omit this step.
