Ford 6.0L Replacement HFCM Drain Plug
The stock water drain plug on
the Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module (HFCM) on 2003-Up 6.0L
Ford trucks has been prone to failure from the beginning.
When draining water from the unit with the factory plug
installed, you need to use a 6mm allen wrench. The factory
6mm hex plug frequently strips out due to it's soft metal
composition. Because
the factory plug is flush with the HFCM, there's no easy way to remove
it once this happens. The solution? Replace it with the
International drain plug kit.
This new drain plug has many
advantages over the stock plug. It can be tightened and removed
by hand due to its large knurled knob. It still retains
the 6mm hex, so if an allen wrench can still be used if desired.
The retaining shaft performs 2 improved features. It
prevents the plug from falling to the ground, and it also allows
for the fluid to be channeled away from the frame rail,
preventing the front drive shaft on 4x4 models from getting fuel
spilled on it. |
